  • Metals have fewer electrons of valence than non-metals and all  noble gases have 8 electrons with the exception of helium.

  • Valence electrons of metallic elements depend on their  group number and have less valence electron than non-metals.

  • Non-metal valence electron depends on their group number minus 10: for example, carbon belongs to  Group 14, so that carbon has 4 valence electrons and more valence electrons than metals.

The no. of metals is increasing  

The no. of non metals is decreasing

Noble gasses have 8  valence electrons and are stable.
