find the lcd or the least common denominator

for example 1/4 plus 1/3 
the LCD is 12 the best way is to multiply the denominator to find the LCD but sometimes no need to do that

when you find the LCD divide the denominator to the LCD and a multiply the numerator

1/4 + 1/3=12(LCD)

then divide 
 
1/4+1/3=
12 divided by 4 is equal to 3
12 divided by 3 is equal to 4

then multiply
1 multiply by 3 is equal to 3
1 multiply by 4 is equal to 4
 then add/subtract
1/4+1/3=3+4/12
=7/12 
the final answer 
get the lowest term if possible
