- Abel gave ⅐ to Ben and ⅖  to Chris, which is

⅐ + ⅖ = ⁵/³⁵ + ¹⁴/³⁵ = ¹⁹/³⁵

- Tarts left with Abel = Initial tarts - Tarts given = 112 - ¹⁹/³⁵ × 112 = 112 - 59.2 = 52.8  tarts

b) Difference in tarts between Chris and Ben initially:

- Chris had 252 tarts initially, and Ben had 84 tarts initially.
