Rachel read 1/5 of a storybook on the 1st day, 3/8 of the remaining pages on the 2nd day and the rest on the 3rd day. If she read 48 more pages on the 3rd day than on the 1st day, what is the total number of pages of the storybook altogether?

Add the pages:
1/5(x) + 3/10(x) + 1/5(x) + 48 = x

     10

7(x) + 48 (10) = x (10)
10x - 7x= 480
3x = 480
3x/x = 480/3
x = 160

The total number of pages of book is 160.
