Example is:

I travelled 10m north then went 5m east. My total distance is 15m but my displacement is only 11.18m. Why? Because displacement is the distance from the origin. And distance is the total length that I have traveled.

Back again with the problem, if I have travelled west of south back to my origin the displacement will be 0 because Im at the origin and the distance from the origin is 0.
