If the rice fields turn into commercial centers or residential places it will greatly affect the supply of rice of the country.
There are other lands or type of lands that can be turned into commercial or residential places and rice fields should not be one of them especially in a country rich in agriculture and rely on rice as basic food of people to live and survive daily life.
However, If I am the municipal engineer and the local government is planning to convert our town's rice fields into an industrial park, first, I would do more research and studies about our place especially concerning the livelihood of the people living in it.
