What you really need in life is to acknowledge that we are all born a sinner.

We have lied to our friends and families, lusted towards a woman, stole a small amount of money from our parents, hated and held a grudge against someone, and many other acts of iniquity, immorality, and wickedness.

Romans 3:23

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  

We need to recognize that by our strength alone, we cannot change. We need to accept that we cannot truly repent relying on ourselves because we are slaves to our body's desire. We need a heart that realizes that we need the Spirit of Christ to truly repent and change. The only way to be righteous to the sight of God is through faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Undergoing a renewal of mind and heart to become Holy in Christ.

God sees our hearts and thoughts. So what you need is an earnest, sincere, honest, diligent heart seeking God. So, If you don't believe in Jesus Christ or God, you only need to pray this with all your heart:

"If you are truly there God or Jesus, make me realize that I am a sinner and lead me to repentance."
