How much metal will be obtained from 150 tons of ore if the metal is 8-1/2% of the ore?

Sagot :

We have not tackled more of this, but I think this is how to answer it:

Given: 150 tons = total solution of metal and ore
           8 - 1/2 % = percentage of metal contained in the solution
Asked: How much metal will be obtained by the solution.

Solution:
Percentage by mass solute = mass solute / mass solution  x 100
         8% (maximum)     =  x   / 150 tons x 100
          8% / 100 =  x / 150 tons x 100 / 100
         0. 08     =  x /150
        0. 08 (150 tons) = x/ 150 tons (150 tons)
12 tons = x = mass solute = mass solute = maximum mass of metal found
        in the solution,
   1/2 % or 0.5 % ( minimum) = x / 150 tons x 100
         0. 5 % / 100  =  x /150 tons x 100 / 100
        0. 005   =  x / 150 tons
        0. 005 x 150 tons = x/ 150 tons (150 tons)
          0. 75 tons  = x
Therefore, there are 12 tons - 0.75 tons of metal found on the ore if I am not mistaken.
(somebody correct me if I am wrong)
