ACTIVITY #1

"An Animal's Eyes Have the power to speak a great language." -Martin Buber

1. What can you say about the quotation?

Animals can be associated with humans. We have similar characteristics, behavior and way of survival. We learn the same way they do through rewards and punishment. Sense the same way they do using senses. When we stare directly towards one person's eyes, we see their soul. When we stare directly towards an animal's eyes, we see their pain and experiences. We interpret them, understand them in our very own way.

Eyes are said to have their own way of speaking things out through expression. Even without actually telling how and what you really feel. And genuineness of one can be seen through how their eyes express and speak. Therefore, the eyes of humans and animals have the power to speak a great and unique language.

2. Do you agree with Martin Buber's idea? Why or why not?

I do agree with Mr. Martin Buber's concept or idea. Even when I am not a pet or animal owner, I do understand the situation even under various circumstances. Animals are human's greatest companion. They can feel, sense and give you comfort. Deep inside, they are special. Humans too, are animals in some ways. I guess this is why we connect to them.

ACT # 2

Watch a video presentation of the 1986 EDSA revolution or the life of Mahatma Gandhi. based on the film, answer the following questions:

1. how can reason be translated into action?

Before a writer writes her pieces, she sometimes comes up with ideas based on experience or observation. Once set, it becomes her reason to write. Therefore, she ought to strive hard as she weaves her masterpiece. On the other hand, social movements or initiatives are formed because of the following reason: it aims to attain social equality, sustainability and a non violence society. Reason can be translated into action once motives and goals were formed. It goes through a serious analysis and evaluation but is worthy of time and effort.

2. What is social contract and how was it reflected in the 1986 EDSA revolution or in the life of Mahatma Gandhi?

According to Social contract theory , people stay together to form a civilization because of a certain agreement. Social Contract Theory is more of an agreement between the people and the society. It helps the society build a strong foundation and framework by implementing laws. These laws ought to control behaviors of the people to prevent further uprising of conflicts. The 1987 EDSA revolution was a result of endless crimes, discrimination and oppression of the government towards its people. It aims to grant freedom, choices and equality. This is how one is associated with another concept. The agreement has been violated. They oppressed the people they should've protected.

3. reflect on an event where you faced a formidable challenge or opponent. How did you approach this trial?
