A food chain follows a single path such that the producer comes first, then followed by consumer then by a predator and/or decomposers ..
While food web on the other hand comprises several food chains connected together.. say there are two consumers.. the first one was eaten by a predator while the other eats insects... by the word in itself it will form a network-like or web of connections with the others.
