We substitute the value of a in the 2nd equation "a/b=10/16". Substituting this, "(36+b)/b=10/16", we will get the value of b. The answer is b=-96. To get a, we substitute b=-96 in the first equation. So a = 36+b =36+(-96) =-60. There you go :-)
