Sagot :

Plant Organs and Its Similarity With Animals

Plants main structure or organs found in plants are the following:

  • Leaves
  • Stems
  • Roots

They are made up from the groups of specialized tissues that are structured according to their jobs and functions. This would explain more about the structure of the plants:

Leaves

  • It is thin with a large surface area. A leaf is often flat and that is the reason why it absorbs most light and sunlight can get to the chloroplasts in the cells.
  • It is also the primary sites of photosynthesis and gas exchange. as it manufactures food for the plants.
  • Leaves normally has stomata, these are tiny openings or pores of a plant tissue that enables gas exchange. They open and close to be able to regulate carbon dioxide, oxygen and water vapor exchange in the atmosphere.

Stems

  • Stems normally carries water and nutrients that is being taken from the roots to the leaves of a plant. The food that is being created by the leaves moves to the other parts of the plant. There would be a space between the leaves and the stem and it is often called as the internode.
  • It is also normally long and cylindrical.

Roots

  • It is an organ of a plant that most of the time lies beneath the surface of the soil. It can also be aerial, growing up above the ground or above water.
  • Roots act like straw that absorbs water, vitamins and minerals from the soil. Small root hairs stick out of the root that helps absorption.
  • It also an anchor of the plant in the soil just so the plant would not fall over.
  • They also store extra food that can be useful in the future.

Just like the plants who are capable of making their own food, animals can do too. However, animals usually depend on plants for their supply of food. Oxygen that humans and animals breathe comes from plants.

Plants take energy from the sun then they get carbon dioxide from the air, and for the minerals and water normally comes from the soil. In exchange, plants give off water and oxygen for humans and animals.

The help that animals do to plants is by pollinating them. It can be very helpful to distribute seeds. The feces of animals can help fertilize plants. Plants also have a different reproduction process, for example, flowering plants tend to depend on insects to harvest pollen. Example would be the bees.

Plants and animals are called as partners in pollination. Ninety percent of flowering plants depend on animals to make the necessary pollen-grain delivery.

Plants are very important to our environment. Green plants remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and initiate the creation of oxygen which is a vital component for life.

So, the similarity of plants and animals are:

  • Both of them are living things.
  • They both store DNA, however, there are still differences between them. Differences would include structure, capabilities, and any other differentiation capabilities.
  • They both can produce food on their own.
