EDSA revolution is a series of peaceful demonstrations involving over 2 million people that took place Feb. 22-25 1968 at the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in the Philippines. The demonstrations were aimed at overthrowing Ferdinand Marcos, a dictator of 20 years. It was mainly led by Cardinal Sin and Cory Aquino (the widow of Ninoy Aquino, who was assassinated under Marcos's orders), along with Fidel Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile. The revolution was successful as Marcos and family fled to Hawaii. Cory Aquino was elected as the new president.
