3x+3 = length of the tarpaulin

126ft²=x(3x+3)
3x²+3x-126=0
(3x+21)(x-6)=0
3x/3=-21/3          x=6
x= -7 or 6 (So we'll use the positive value) x=6

Substituting x in the equation
Width = 6 ft
Length = 21 ft
