Sagot :
Biodiversity and Extinction
There are different species living in a population. A population is group of living things that are of the same species. There are many populations living in a community. However, when there are varieties of life in an area, depending on each populations but co-exist together, it is called biodiversity.
The ecosystem is maintained in a balanced environment. Once it is altered, say, a change in population size, it could affect the environment. Population size varies on the number of organisms. Birth rates and death rates is one of the contributing factors. However, once a species or population becomes low, it is considered a endangered species and will become extinct in the future to come. When the population is declining rapidly, the species are considered threatened.
Contrary to extinction, when the population has increased in numbers and doubled the other population, there will be an imbalance of nature. And there will be competition for resources and superiority. The ecosystem will fall and the least species might probably become extinct.
