Meiosis is a type of cell division that occurs between Sex cells(Gametes) and it always reduces the chromosome number from 2N(Diploid) to N(Haploid) in its daughter cells.Mitosis however occurs between Somatic cells(every cell in the body except Sex cells) and results to another cell with the same ploidy as the original cell.Meiosis' sole purpose is for reproduction while Mitosis is for repairing,growth and development of the organism.
