Types of Internet Fraud
- Phishing - This involves sending fraudulent emails or messages that appear to come from legitimate sources (such as banks or online services) to trick individuals into revealing sensitive information, such as passwords or credit card numbers. Phishing often uses fake websites that mimic real ones to capture login credentials.
- Online Auction Fraud - This occurs on online auction sites where scammers may sell items that do not exist, misrepresent the condition of items, or fail to deliver the purchased goods after payment has been made. Buyers may be deceived by fake listings or sellers who do not follow through with transactions.
