Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. There are 3 states of matter.
- Solid - is a state of matter that has a definite shape and a constant volume which means that particles in a solid structure are in fixed positions. Examples of solid include chairs, bags, notebooks, and pens.
- Liquid - is a state of matter that has a definite volume and its shape changes depending on the container. Liquids can flow because particles are loosely bonded. Examples of liquids include coffee, tea, and milk.
- Gas - is a state of matter that has no definite volume or shape. This is because its particles are freely moving. Examples of gas include oxygen, carbon dioxide, and helium.
