The theme that prevailed in Makoto 's  story and the Cowrie shell is good luck.  

  • In the story, Makoto had planted a seed eagerly  and patiently waited for it to grow and bear fruit.  He had received the seeds in a positive way, through kindness,  and thus he had been rewarded for his diligence and hard work.  As the years went by,  Makato grew tall and handsome.  He had perfected every virtue,  and served the king well.  He was so loyal that the  King had absolute faith in him.  He was promoted to higher and higher positions until he was appointed KhunWang,  which meant that he was the most important person in the king's court.
