FACIAL PAINTING- The artistic features of Peking Opera facial makeup are mainly manifested in the three following aspects: distortion, vividness, and allegorical implications. This kind of makeup art uses a form of deformation and exaggeration to express meaning.
COSTUMES- is the distinctive style of dress or cosmetic of an individual or group that reflects class, gender, profession, ethnicity, nationality, activity or epoch.
ROLES- In Peking Opera, there are four roles: the male and female roles, the painted-face role, and the comedic role. These roles have the natural features of age and sex, as well as social status, and are artificially exaggerated by makeup, costume and gestures.
CHANGING FACES- The face changing, known as "Bian Lian" in Chinese, is an important aspect of Chinese Sichuan opera. Performers uses "face changing technique" on the stage and transforms it into a special art with stunning skills. They are wave their arms and twist their heads, and their painted masks change again.
