The Central Nervous System (CNS) serves as the main processing center for the entire nervous  system, while the Central Processing Unit ( CPU) serves as the brain of the computer.

  • The CNS functions in the  same way as a computer CPU.  The brain controls the body, while the  CPU controls the monitor and other computer hardware.  The processing and integration of information is  the main function of the CNS and CPU.  Information is sent to the CNS through the  Sensory Nervous System (SNS) similar to keyboard typing information.  After processing, the information is forwarded through  another pathway called the Motor Nervous System (MNS).

  • This nervous system unit is similar  to the output device (printer, monitor).  The central nervous system (  CNS) is the central processing centre.  Information from all parts of the body is received, processed,  and commands are issued for response, just like a computer.
