In this topic, I learnt the difference between a chemical change and a physical change. A chemical change creates something different and is difficult to reverse whereas in a physical change, the chemicals stay the same and is easy to reverse. Rena told us a good example of this, when we melt copper, it is still copper, it has only changed shape. This made it really clear for me to understand and I think with young children, a good example could be water. I also learnt about using the physical properties to describe matter. During the lecture, we had to choose an item and describe its physical properties to our neighbour. I think it would be good to do this with young children as well. I learnt that chemical properties can only be observed when the chemicals are reacting.
