Another word I've heard from several of my artistic colleagues during drawing talks is "pictorial view." I had no idea what they were talking about before I started sketching, but now that I've become a major admirer of perspective drawing, I know what they're talking about.
The angle from which a three-dimensional object is shown on a drawing surface is referred to as a pictorial view. There are three basic subcategories of pictorial drawing, each of which describes a particular point of view on a subject. These were the isometric, oblique and perspective view.
