The Filipino mentality towards poverty is one of being poor but happy. Filipinos accept that some of them may live below the poverty line, but they still maintain a sense of optimism that there will come a day where they will no longer need this income source. They also understand that money does not grow on trees and that some people cannot afford luxuries. In addition, they know that they must work hard so that they will eventually get ahead of others and make more money than them.
