Secondary effects only occur as a result of a primary effect. Fires started by earthquakes, loss of electrical power and water service as a result of an earthquake, flood, or hurricane, and flooding caused by landslides are just a few examples.
Long-term effects that are triggered as a result of a primary event are known as tertiary effects. These include things like habitat loss due to a flood, permanent changes in the position of a river channel due to a flood, crop failure due to a volcanic eruption, and so on. Geologic processes affect every human on the planet at all times, but they are most noticeable when they result in the loss of life or property. A natural disaster occurs when the process that poses a hazard occurs and damages human lives or property. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, landslides, subsidence, floods, droughts, hurricanes, and tornadoes are among the natural risks and potential disasters to consider. Earthquake is one of the natural hazards.
