Now the steps are:
5 3/4 + 7 1/2

1. Make the divisor and the dividend improper fractions by the formula dw + n = n / d
Process: 4 x 5 + 3 = 23/4
              2 x 7 + 1 = 15/2

2. Add each other. Get their LCD then divide each on the denominators and multiply to the numerators then add the results to get the new numerator.
Process: 23/4 + 15/2
LCD: 4
4 / 4 = 1 * 23 = 23 / 4
4 / 2 = 2 * 15 = 30 / 4
Add: 23/4 and 30/4

3. Simplify.
