#What Are Fractions?#
→ Fractions are quantities in mathematics that can be expressed as halves of the whole. A fraction is a proportion or part of a whole, wherein the whole can be any numerical, a certain value, or an object.
#Parts of a Fractions#
"A numerator and a denominator are necessary for any and all fractions."
→ The denominator reflects however many parts have already been reduced into the whole. It is located at the bottom of the fraction.
→ The numerator represent the number of fractional portions provided. It is located at the top of the entire structure.
#Types of Fractions#
"There are many types of fractions founded on the numerator and denominator, which are two portions of a fraction. They are listed below:"
1) Proper Fraction
→ Proper fractions are those where the denominator is much less than the numerator. It is typically smaller than the entire. Examples of Proper Fractions: 2/4, 4/8, 3/7, 7/8, and so on.
2) Improper Fraction
→ An improper fraction is the one where the denominator is larger than or equal to the numerator. It is always equal to or higher than the sum of it's parts. Examples of Improper Fraction: 13/5, 9/4, 10/4, 5/2, and so on.
3) Mixed Fraction
→ A mixed fraction is the result of combining a whole with only a proper fraction. Examples of Mixed Fraction: 3 4/5, 1 2/5, 4 5/6, 1 3/5, and so on.
4) Equivalent Fraction
→ Equivalent fractions are fractions which have the same numerical value. It's the same part of the puzzle. To determine equivalent fractions of every provided fraction.
- The numerator and denominator of a certain fraction can both be multiplied by the very same number.
- We could also reduce the numerator and denominator of a certain fraction by the same value for division.
"Example of Equivalent Fraction"
"Find the two fractions that are similar to 5/7.
Equivalent Fraction 1 → 5/7 = 5/7 x 2/2 = 10/14
Equivalent Fraction 2 → 5/7 = 5/7 x 3/3 = 15/21
5) Unit Fraction
→ Unit fractions are fractions with such a numerator of 1. Examples of Unit Fraction: 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/4 and others.
6) Similar and Dissimilar Fractions
→ Fractions with much the same denominators usually called similar fractions. Example of Similar Fraction: 2/15, 8/15, 12/15, and 14/15
→ Fractions with different denominators are called dissimilar fractions. Example of Dissimilar Fraction: 3/5, 3/4, 6/7, and 12/15
