The famous Korean folk story “The Tiger’s Whisker” describes a young wife named Yun Ok who has some problem with her husband and received some advice from an old man. Yun Ok was disturbed in her marriage because her husband didn’t treat her kindly and genuinely. Therefore, she decided to ask an old man who helps people with problems for advice. After she explained, the old man didn’t give any advice to her directly. He just asked her to bring him the whisker of a living tiger. Even though You Ok was frightened, she decided to do it. For several months, through her patience and persistence, You Ok got the tiger’s whisker successfully. When she gave the whisker to the old man, however, the old man immediately tossed it into the fire and just answered,
“If you know how to tame a vicious tiger, surely you can do the same with your husband.”
