Physics Demonstration: Balloon Rocket

Objective: Describe the action and reaction forces.

Materials:

    balloons         straws         string          tape      scissors

Precaution: Be careful in using sharp objects like scissors.

Procedure:

Note: Each step must be properly documented through a drawing, a photo, or a video.

Tie one end of a string to a chair, doorknob, or other support.

Put the other end of the string through a straw. Then pull the string tight, and tie it to another support in the room.

Blow up the balloon, and pinch the end of the balloon to keep the air inside. Do not tie the balloon.

Have a partner tape the balloon to the straw so that the opening of the balloon is horizontal with the ground, while you keep the air pinched inside the balloon. See the figure below.

Predict what will happen to the balloon the moment you release it. Write your answers on the Prediction Phase of Table 1.

Have your partner use the marker to draw a finish line near the end of the string. Then, let go of the balloon and observe!

Sagot :

Answer:

my advice, if you don't like doing these kinds of activities you should use you imagination in answering the questions. the procedures are already stated so it should be easy to imagine what happens to the balloon rocket :)
