Substitution Method Steps:

Equation 1)  x + y = 10
Equation 2) x - y = 8

Step 1:  x + y = 10
              y = 10-x  Equation 3 (in terms of x)

Step 2: Substitute 10-x  to y in equation 2
              x - (10-x) = 8
              x - 10 + x = 8
             x + x = 8 + 10
             2x = 18

              x = 9

Step 3:  Use Equation 3 to find y
             y = 10 - x
             y = 10 - 9
             y = 1

x = 9;  y = 1

The solution to this system is (9,1).  The graphs of the two equations  intersect at Point (9,1).
