Sagot :
Confucianism is a religion of positive and humane outlook has played a very important role in the life, social structure, and political philosophy of China. The religion was started by a man named Confucius who was born 500 years before Christ was born. This religion promotes morality and orderly living and has always been more recognized as an ethical system rather than a religion. It emphasizes the earthly rather than the heavenly things. The doctrine of Confucianism centers on the following beliefs and practices:
1. Ancestor worship - the worship of deceased ancestors and the belief that the spirits of the dead have the ability to influence the fate of the living.
2. Respect for parents - The devotion, obedience and respect of younger family members to the elderly.
The following are the basic principles of Confucianism:
1. Jen-the golden rule
2. Chun-tai-the gentlemanliness
3. Cheng-ming-the proper performance of the role in society
4. Te-the power of goodness
5. Li - the ideal standard of conduct
6. Wen - the peaceful arts (music, poetry, etc.)
The ethical system of Confucianism is commendable because it promotes things that are desirable for the individual and even in society. However, Confucius’s ethical philosophy was rooted in his belief in self -efficacy and had no place in this philosophy for God. Confucius taught that man has the ability to beautify his own life and his culture, while relying on his own goodness and ability. Christianity, however, teaches the opposite. Not only is man incapable of “cleansing his work,” but he is also incapable of pleasing God in his own strength or gaining eternal life in heaven through his good works.
The Bible teaches that man is inherently sinful from birth (Jeremiah 17: 9) and is incapable of doing enough good to be acceptable to a holy and just God. “For by the works of the law shall no man be justified” (Romans 3:20). Man desperately needs a Savior to do this for him. God provided the Savior, His Son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to suffer the punishment for our sins and to make us acceptable to God. He exchanged His perfect life for our sinful life: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Confucianism, like other false religions, relies on man's own work and ability. Only Christianity recognizes that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and its followers trust only in Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice on the cross provides salvation. to all who believe in Him and place their trust not in their own ability, but in Him alone.
