Sagot :
Adding and subtracting rational expressions can be very confusing. But try to understand.
A. If two-or three-rational expressions have the same denominators:
a/b+c/b=a+c/b & a/b-c/b=a-c/b.
In other words, add or subtract the numerator and copy the denominator. Factor if needed.
B. If two-or three-rational expressions have different denominators:
a/b+c/d=ad+bc/bd & a/b-c/d=(ad-bc)/bd.
In other words, get the LCD (Least Common Denominator) of the denominators. Then, divide the new denominator on the denominator of the first fraction. After that, multiply the quotient and the numerator of the first fraction. The answer will be the numerator of the fraction w/ the new denominator. The same will be made at the second fraction. Factor if needed.
