In my opinion, it's beneficial to learn a foreign language. It can help you in multiple ways. What if you encounter a tourist who speaks that certain language? Then it's not just going to be easier for you, but the tourist as well. What if you get lost in that specific country where they speak the language you learned? Then you just have to ask and you're on your way back.
We can be taught foreign languages as long as it doesn't affect our own dialects and cultures.
