Generally, sand and gravel consist of an unconsolidated accumulation of rounded or semi-rounded rock fragments that result from the natural disintegration of rock (see entry on Weathering). Sand and gravel can be described in terms of texture and composition. Sand and gravel means any unconsolidated mixture of fine or coarse aggregate, or both, found in and processed from a natural deposit.
