This simply means that in doing things, you only have to take actions that are considered moral.

But how do we know if a certain action that we will be taking is moral?

An action is moral if it becomes a universal law. In other words, if it gains the acceptance and approval of the society then it becomes a universal law.

Let's put it into context, you badly want to pass the exam, you thought that the only way for you to pass is to resort to cheating.

Now before you act, you have to first weigh in the morality of such action, is cheating accepted by the society? If not, then it can't become a universal law. And according to Kant's Categorical Imperative, you can't and shouldn't act on it since it can't become a universal law.

The same thing can be applied in the morality of cases such as euthanasia, self defense, and abortion. Before you resort to these actions, try to determine its morality using can't categorical Imperative.
