In truth, Rizal has a great admiration for Filipino women. Having 9 loving sisters and a wonderful mother, it becomes clear why Filipino women are close to his heart.

In his letter to the 21 young women of Malolos, he commended their efforts and their desire to learn and be educated in the Spanish Language.

Moreover, in the same letter he acknowledged the invaluable role of women as a mother and as a wife.

Rizal strongly believe that with the power of education, women can exert great influence towards the emancipation of their Motherland from the chains of colonialism.
