I Am an African Child:
The moral lesson of the poem is that each of us should be proud of who we are because we are all children of God and in Him we are equal.
The writer of the poem expresses his love and pride for being an African. Regardless of the color of his skin, he is very optimistic that what counts on is his talents and he does not need to be pitied but just opportunities to share what he got. It does not matter to him how difficult it would be to learn because he is more than willing to be taught. Their capacity to excel in whatever field they want to take depends largely on how they see themselves in the future.
The mere fact that the Africans are often discriminated maybe the reason why the writer have written this poem. This might come as something that would inspire, motivate, or strengthen a fellow African. It might also come as something that would instill awareness among others who see them as someone lower than them as they are always associated with slavery and abuse. Most people think that because of the color of their skin they are destined to be slaves and captives.
