It can be seen at the East of the Causcus Mountain and to the West
of the vast Steppe of Central Asia.Geographically and historically,
Caspian Sea as an important hub of water routes, has served as the link
between the Volga and Iran and between Transcaucasia and Central Asia
and provided a corridor for Russia’s expansion into the Middle East and
Central Asia . Initially, Russian expansion was not motivated by
oil, however, after 1900, the Caspian secured prominence as the major
supplier of the energy needs of the Russian empire.
