The Dangers of Deforestation
The act of cutting down trees, especially through illegal logging, can cause various negative implications in our environment. Firstly, deforestation is the major cause of climate change. As a result of lesser trees, there are less plants to regulate flooding especially in high risk areas. Furthermore, trees also help control the level of water in the atmosphere by regulating the water cycle. Less trees means less rain, and consequently, less rain means less crops for farmers.
Secondly, deforestation affects the habitats of animals. Due to high rates of deforestation, multiple animal species are labeled as endangered. Similarly, indigenous people living near dense forests are affected by this change too. Forests are their source of livestock, food, and resources necessary for living. Lastly, deforestation, specifically illegal logging, promotes unauthorizes acts of companies against the law.
The effects of deforestation are devastating. Overall, if this act is not stopped immediately, we, the youth, might not have a future to live in.
