Teenage Pregnancy

It is alarming that teenage pregnancy is growing here in the Philippines. The Commission on Population and Development (Popcom) on Sunday bared the continuous rise in teenage pregnancy, citing a 2019 Philippine Statistics Authority’s report stating that pregnancy among girls aged 15 and below went up by 7 percent. What's bothering is that there is a total of  2,411 girls aged 10 to 14 gave birth in 2019 — with a rate of almost seven every day — a three-fold increase from 2000, when only 755 from the said age group gave birth. I wish more will be improved towards comprehensive sex education. We need a better and healthy conversation and education about sex and sexual health especially with the family and the community. We need to stop demonizing sexuality and to start to have a healing relationship about it.
