This is not a quadratic but a linear equation since a quadratic equation has the form:
[tex]ax^2+bx+c=y[/tex] where a is never equal to 0.

While a linear equation has the form:
[tex]mx+b=y[/tex]
This is simply the form when a is 0.

In the given equation we only have x and not x^2 so it is not quadratic.

Just by observing it, it is not quadratic because the variable x should have a power of 2 instead of the power of 1. Second, if you try to solve it, it has only one root, but in quadratic it says it must have 2 roots.
