1. The sun is what makes the water cycle work. The sun provides what almost everything on Earth needs to go—energy, or heat. Heat causes liquid and frozen water to evaporate into water vapor gas, which rises high in the sky to form clouds.

2) An organism eats another organism to acquire the energy it needs to survive.

3) The solar energy is used by plants to photosynthesize. The first order consumers (herbivores) consume the plants and acquire only a fraction of energy from the sun. The second order consumers (carnivores) consume the herbivores and acquire a fraction of the fraction of energy from the sun. The third order then consume the second order consumer and only gets a fraction of the energy again. The final consumer would have the smallest amount of energy coming from the sun because it could only get a fraction of a fraction... of a fraction of it from the producer (plant).
