As you can see, the first thing that we should have in our mind is by means of ''isolating the variable''. And by isolating the variable, it just means that we should group the variables in the other side and the non-variables grouped in another side as well. 

And if we're going to interchange the position, I mean if we're going to put the number 11 in the right side with the number 5 because they are the non-variables, we also need to interchange their signs. 

2x=5-11 (From positive, it became negative).

Then just solve it.

2x = - 6

And then divide it by 2x.

[tex] \frac{2x}{2x} = \frac{-6}{2x} [/tex]

So x = -3.
