Digestion begins in the mouth where the food is mechanically digested by chewing or mastication. The chewed food, which is called bolus, passes through the pharynx and then to esophagus. As the bolus enters the organ (stomach), the sphincter muscles at the ends of stomach contract to keep it in. The churning action of the stomach breaks down the bolus into smaller food parts. Then it enters to the small intestine. Small intestine is a long coiled tube. The small intestine adds substances in the chyme to break it down further and the undigested food particles will passed on to the large intestine.
And finally we will go to the rectum and anus. The rectum provides a temporary storage for feces ( dumi ) before they are excreted.
