If you are said x and y are directly proportional you just have to write the equation y=kx,
find the k.
In this case, y=30 and x=6, so 30=k*5<=> k=30/6=5. After knowing k you only have to replace the given value in the right place. (if y is directly proportional to x, this means x is also directly proportional to y.
When it is a direct proportion, multiplying or dividing one number with a certain constant will multiply or divide the other number with the same constant.
Example:
6:4 = x:12
Solve for x(direct proportion).
4 was multiplied by 3 to get 16, right?
