POPULAR MUSIC
Pop is a genre of popular music that orginated in its modem for during the mid-1950s in the United

Although much of the music that appears on record charts is seen as pop music, the genre is
distinguished from chart music. Identifying lactors usually include repeated choruses and hooks,
short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse chorus structure), and
rhythms or tempos that can be easily danced to. Much pop music also borrows elements from other
styles such as rock, urban, dance, Latin, and country.

Standards
Standards are traditional compositions originaling from the 1910s and onward which have become
widely known, performed, and recorded across the world. The earliest Standards were products of
the First World War era, most commonly found in Broadway and Hollywood show tunes.
Ballad
A ballad is a type of poem that is sometimes set to music. The ballad actually began as a folk
song and continues today in popular music.
POP music
Pop music is a term that originally derives from an abbreviation of popular music. Pop music is an
ample and imprecise category of modem music. As a genre, pop music is very electric often
borrowing elements from other styles including urban, dance and rock.
