Types of Forces 1. Contact Force-occurs when two objects are touching. For an instance, when you exert force to push a chair, lift bag, stretch a spring, or throw a ball, your hands are in contact with the object. The types of contact force are the following: A. Normal Force - a force exerted on a body by any surface are in contact with the body. It is a force that pushes up on an object from the surface. B. Friction Force a force that is present when two surfaces are in contact with or move past each other. It is caused when two objects rub together. It always works in the opposite direction. C. Tension Force-a pulling force exerted by a stretched rope or string on a body to which it is attached.
