Sagot :
There are numerous roles that mentors play in the life of each person, and in the life of Rizal, they had greatly developed his intellectual and artistic skills through continuous reading and learning. The first mentor Rizal ever had was no other than his mother, Teodora Alonso. It was her who first taught Rizal how to read, how to comprehend things, and how to have principles in life that made him excel throughout his lifetime.
It was his mother who had the greatest influence on him though he also learned much from his uncles. From his mother, Rizal had been exposed to the world full of poetry, prose and arts. She first inculcated to Rizal the importance of reading and how to utilize time properly and that resulted in Rizal being able to speak many languages, being the most ever present student (not missing out any lecture days from school) and excelling in every thing he does. At an early age, his love for arts and literature has been sparked and greatly developed in his childhood. Rizal’s expression of himself through poetry can be seen in a poem that he made at an early age titled “Mi Primera Inspiracion” which is about his love for his mother, Teodora Alonso.
Throughout Rizal’s lifetime, he always brought with him all those early life lessons he had learned from his mother, from the virtues, principle, life lessons and knowledge in humungous books and lectures which made him the great person he was throughout the history.
