Deletion - a portion of a chromatid is removed/deleted. Possible result: There will be loss of genetic material.
Inversion - a portion of a chromatid is removed, reversed and reinserted. Possible result: There may be loss or gain of genetic material. But there may be no loss or gain at all.
Translocation - a part of a chromosome is removed and then attached to another chromosome. Possible result: Same as inversion.
