The reason why menstrual cycle stop during menopause is due to the menstrual cycle that becomes irregular. Generally, they become less frequent. These changes result from the failure of the ovaries to respond to the stimulation by FSH and LH secreted by the pituitary. As a result of these changes, the follicles do not develop; the ovaries therefore produces less estrogen (they are responsible for developing and maintaining the female reproductive structure as well as the lining of the uterus )
The information was taken from my teacher's discussion =)
Hope it Helps =)
